Elmer Huff, a former Hotel Pace employee and local resident, was arrested Monday night in Louisville after eluding authorities since leaving Galesburg on November 24 with another man in a stolen auto. He will be returned to Galesburg for trial. Huff, about 24, formerly a reformatory inmate, married a local girl named Nelson. Also noted, Nobel Prize will be awarded to Woodrow Wilson on December 10 for aiding Japanese Russian peace, following Theodore Roosevelt and Elihu Root as previous American laureates.
The Masoni Country Club elected officers at its annual meeting led by President Dr Frank Russell and Vice President Will B Martin. Officers include Secretary Fred Knight Treasurer F C McGuire Directors Charles Hickman Dorothy Stinson and E H Waggoner. The club is debt free with about 75 in treasury and plans may include buying land for a permanent golf course and building a tool house and club house improvements.
The local American Legion post has secured permission from the board of education to use the high school gym two or three nights weekly for basketball practice. Anyone wishing to try out for the team should meet at the high school this evening, with Arch Motter to lead the team temporarily.
Mrs. Sala Parkinson departed this morning for her home in Oregon state to join her husband. She traveled as far as Galesburg with her parents Rey and Mrs. D. W. Sala.
Harve Conelly and his crews have cleared a heavy mud deposit from the lake bed on the Normal school campus. The dam break drained water recently exposing the lake bed and work is to finish within the week.
Chester Todd Jess Steeple ton and Dr George Aldrich were granted a continuance in Hancock County circuit court on auto theft charges. Frances Gibson implicated but not indicted for turning state's evidence. Wick Crenshaw to stand trial for manslaughter at the Carthage fair after a fistfight with Bud Lane ford. trial to begin Wednesday before Judge.

McDonough county sheriff deputies endorse Judge K M Landis after his St Louis bar association speech. He criticizes early parole for desperate criminals and urges accountability. Few prosecutors support probation, arguing most offenders reoffend after release.
President Wilson urged Congress to revise tax laws for simplification, establish a workable budget system, cut government waste, and curb living costs through federal laws. He backed Armenian relief, Philippine independence, and disabled veterans rehabilitation while declining to endorse a bonus or League of Nations.
