Son Dead Three Years Found to Have Died in France
Carthage Illinois reports that Mr and Mrs J A Smith learned their son Charlie Smith was killed in action in France October 15 1918. His body, burning in Hoboken since August 2 will be sent home in a few days for military funeral services. He served in Company D 823rd Infantry 82nd Division during World War I.

One Pays Fine in Billingsville Case

Proposes University for Mothers-in-Law in Sermon
Rev. Charles B. Stevens of Third Presbyterian church urged in Chicago that a university for the education of mothers in law would address a growing issue. He said seventy five percent of matrimonial disasters are caused by mother-in-law interference and called her an outlaw rather than an in law.

Accidental Death Verdict in Five Train Crossing Deaths
LaHarpe Illinois August 29 A coroner s jury finds accidental death with no blame on the train crew in the deaths of five people at a T P W crossing. The auto was about thirty miles per hour when it hit the track and the train was traveling about forty miles per hour.

Mr and Mrs Lloyd Welch of East Jackson street are back from a 2000 mile auto trip through the east visiting Gettysburg New York and Buffalo. The two year old car ran without engine or tire trouble and used spark plugs made by Terry James Welch's brother in law with no changes needed.
