Auto Crash Injur 7 People Reported

A local auto crash left seven people injured. Emergency crews responded to the scene and transported injured to area hospitals for treatment.

Seven persons injured in Chevrolet Ford collision on Good Hope road

At 7:45 p.m. on the Good Hope road a Chevrolet collided with a northbound Ford as the Ford attempted to pass. Seven people from Monmouth sustained injuries including head wounds, facial lacerations, a dislocated spine, broken nose, and bruises. Passengers were treated locally. one child remained with family while others were taken to a home.

Burglary Report After Sunday Morning Incident

Sunday morning at 1 15 o clock a fire on a lawn beside a residence destroyed the car top upholstery and inner tubes beneath the rear seat. Firemen prevented spread to the house. The cause is unknown though battery spark is unlikely since the car lacked a battery.

Bandits suspected in Abingdon loot and lumber yard fire

Three men held up the Ernhart grocery in Abingdon at 11 p m Saturday and are thought to have started a blaze at the Simpson McClure lumber yard causing $50 000 in damage. They took 139 from Mrs Ernhart and 2 from the Santa Fe depot cash drawer Cameron reports link the same trio to a second robbery.

Staged Vault Robbery Nets $224000 In Chicago

Four masked robbers assaulted the Safety Deposit vaults at the Masonic Temple in Chicago stealing $224,000 after breaking box doors with mallets. Authorities call it an inside job and question two custodians who gave conflicting statements. The robbers departed about an hour after entry. A separate local sale at 832 West Jefferson Street. property transferred for $1,500 to 8 O Caufman in a deal handled by Frank Logan.

Salesman Shot Near Prairie City in Nighttime Shootout

Canton, Aug 27 Deputy Sheriff B J Hunt was called to Ellisville to investigate a mysterious shooting incident that occurred near dark yesterday evening when a running exchange of shots occurred between a traveling salesman named Thomas of Peoria and some unknown men. The shooting is said to have ended without details of injuries.

Walking Saloons Operate In Peoria

Peoria August 29 two walking saloons equipped with pre Prohibition essentials were arrested by Chief Martin and Federal Agent Kidder with officers. Bottles of mule whiskey and glasses were found as they peddled liquor from man to man in front of a hotel. They will face government action today.
