Berlin reports large crowds travel to Potsdam to witness the burial of the former German empress. The simple coffin bore the family standard. the absence of the husband and Crown Prince was noted as trains carried mourners.
Promoter Tex Rickard announced the heavyweight championship fight between Dempsey and Carpentier will be held in Jersey City on Saturday July 2. The press note appears in the New York papers.
Superintendent J I Lynch announced the Rogers Producing Company cancelled the contract for the senior play after controversy. He said the company asked for an explanation and noted Miss Ethel Garrett's departure and the high school’s tensions over the production.

Springfield April 19 Governor Small said estimates of 35,000,000 for the Illinois waterway project are too high to pursue under current conditions. He noted only 20,000,000 is affordable and delaying the project until a nearer figure is possible. He warned a 15,000,000 bond vote would likely fail and pledged not to waste the 20,000,000.
President Harding left Washington by special train at 9 30 this morning for New York to attend the unveiling of the Bolivar statue and return to Washington tonight. He was accompanied by Secretary of State Mrs Harding and a party of personal friends.
