Voters approve a school proposition 221 to 136 with women voting 136 to 583 for it. A new board of education is elected led by Late J. Barber as president with Lula Ke, Truman and E. Mabel Miner as trustees. Bonds to become due in 1941.
New York April 18 The American Legion has adopted the poppy as its Memorial Day flower. On May 30 thousands of red silk flowers will be distributed nationwide by the Legion and other patriotic groups. The replicas of Flanders fields poppies were made by war orphans of the American and French Children's League and brought to America by Mme Anna E Guerin. The poppy is the league's national emblem and the children guard graves of American soldiers in France.
