MacGregor Old-Timer James Hay Visits Relatives

James Hay, born in Scotland in 1859, formerly of MacGregor, now in Ramsay visiting relatives from Morris due to local floods. He homesteaded on Bill Hay Jr’s farm, ran the Waverley House until 1900, then worked as CNR section foreman at Morris before retiring. He is 21st year in Ramsay, widowed, with ten living children. his son was killed in the Id War.

Typhoid vaccination clinic at Health Unit Office

Dr. A V Jubb administers Typhoid inoculations this Thursday morning May 18 from 10 30 am for evacuees staying in or near the area. The service is free and evacuees are urged to attend the clinic.

North Norfolk and District Fair Board met in Memorial Hall with about ten members including President Harry Dankes. They discussed funding the Curling Club to enlarge Summer Fair Quarters and winter rink, approved passes for Calf Club Exhibitors, and noted prize lists near printing. A new tag for exhibitors will be issued. prize lists arrive next weekend.

MacGregor mourns life of Lowe Palmer educator and athlete

Obituary outlines Logie Palmer a beloved MacGregor resident born 1869 in Bristol who settled in Canada as a youth. He led church choirs and orchestras, helped establish a brass band, excelled in football, hockey, cricket and tennis, and hosted friends at his farm. Survived by wife Ellen and nine children, his funeral was held May 11 at St Paul Anglican. Katrime district mourns Mrs. Samuel Gilbert 88 years 9 months after a long illness. Born Sophia Cooper in 1862 England she moved to Canada 38 years ago with husband Samuel Gilbert. Survived by son Br Gilbert daughter Maude and extended family. funeral held Friday in Community Hall with Millburn in charge. Interment Katrime Cemetery near Portage la Prairie.

In Victoria BC on Thursday April p Jean Ellen eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Me en wed Arthur Irving third son of Mr Mrs HL Collins of Mac Gregor Manitoba Rev Dr AE Whitehouse officiated. The bride wore bridal satin with a Victorian neckline inset nylon yoke long lily point sleeves and finger length veil. She carried a rose bud bouquet. The reception followed at the bride’s parents home with a dainty buffet. The couple reside at 1495 Fort St Victoria BC.
