Gretna to Winnipeg Pipeline Authorized
A pipeline from Gretna Manitoba toward Winnipeg will be built as part of a new Imperial Oil project. Survey work has started and right of way is being sought. The line diverges from the Interprovincial pipeline from Edmonton and flood delays are expected to slow initial work but crews will recover time. Estimated cost around 14 000 and a station adjacent to the Interprovincial system is planned. Britain has ordered pipe and construction contracts will be awarded soon. The line aims to be the final link in a modern oil transport system from Alberta fields to Winnipeg, owned by a Winnipeg Pipe Line Company Ltd subsidiary of Imperial Oil.
