Clean-Up Starts In Red River Valley Flood Area
Operation Rainbow began May 26 at both ends of the Red River area. Cleanup squads moved into Greater Winnipeg to start city-wide scrub and disinfect. The first train in two weeks reached Emerson, the border town where the flood began. Officials warned of possible further damage but said danger to Winnipeg from wholesale evacuation is over. Experts noted the flood response, evacuee handling, and advised return only after homes are safe.
