Two Centres May Have To Close Doors
Three spokesmen from the Edmonton Calgary and Napi Friendship Centres warned last week that funding shortages could force their centres to cease operations around November. They noted provincial federal grants supported centres in six Alberta towns and said requests for 120000 but only 80000 was received this year. Calgary's grant rose only 300 while work increased and staff underpaid. A coordinated funding approach with governments and local groups was proposed to avert closure.
