Waterfowl outlook lifts hopes for prairie lands
Winnipeg based Canadian report says autumn waterfowl flights may exceed 1970 as rains eased May shortages. Ample water should sustain brood season with late mallards hatching mid July. Blue-wing teals gadwalls and bluebills on schedule or ahead, notably good in central western Saskatchewan and central Alberta, while southern Manitoba production may dip due to spring water shortages. If conditions stay normal, carryover water should aid next season.
