Funeral services were held at the Knapp Parlors Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Matilda Le Clair Shain age 82 years 4 months 29 days who died Sunday at her Lynden home Rev E O Grimes conducted the services in the presence of many friends She was born in New York August 3 1839 and had lived in the Lynden district for 36 years

Dairymen Choose Local Candidate for County Directors
The Lynden district will field a candidate in the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association election this month. Henry Shagren was nominated at the December meeting and will compete for one of two director spots on January 28. Other nominees include Tom Anderson, Tom Alderson, A. W. Dahlquist, C. W. Ritter and K. E. Sinnes. The association handled a large volume of dairy products in 1921 and aims for higher output in the coming year as manager C. C. Davis prepares the 1921 report detailing achievements.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the First Christian Reformed Church for Mrs Lysje Buizer who died Friday at home. The Rev. Edward Joling and Rev. P Jonker officiated before a large gathering. Born in Holland on November 13 1852 she came to America 31 years ago and lived in the Lynden district nine years. Survived by six children C Ooms Griffith Indiana William Ooms Cornelia Buizer Arthur Buizer and Mrs Ben Hendricks and Mrs Cornelius Buizer, all of Lynden.

Egg Association Pays 24 Percent Dividends in 1921
The Washington Co-operative Egg and Poultry Association ends 1921 by issuing 24 percent total dividends to stockholders. Ten thousand dollars in cash was distributed as a 10 percent cash dividend for the last half of 1921, plus a 4 percent cash dividend earlier, and a 10 percent stock dividend for 1921. Profits for 1921 were two and a half times the total assets in 1919.

Washington district officials announce effective January 1 1922 the repeal of nuisance and luxury taxes under the Revenue Act of 1921. Items relieved include soda fountain charges ice cream sundaes and similar foods.
