Homeowners reject cafe plan move to court action
About 50 residents in Southwest Lubbock voted Friday night to pursue legal action to block a proposed restaurant near their homes. They would fund relocation costs for nearby property owners and paving for a new street if the restaurant were moved 150 feet south to Knoxville Avenue where 49th Street would intersect, but the plan would not create a through street. The group says the cafe would intrude on a residential area and asked for a relocation to a site north of 10th Street, between Knoxville and Memphis Avenues. The decision followed the rejection of a slas plan to keep the area residential.
