Gerald Reichle, farmer five miles south of Wolfforth, delivered 2 740 pounds of seed cotton forming the county s first 1966 bale at Daniell s Gin in Carlisle. The bale weighed 655 pounds and earned Reichle a gin bonus as the county s first base producer. The cotton came from a five acre patch near Wolfforth with hand pulled fibers.
A Lubbock nurse told a Texas Senate committee that hospital administrators blame nurses for private duty shortages and should mind their own business. Nurses criticized professional status, contracts, and pay, saying nurses can be fired and punch time clocks. The hearing, led by Sen. Criss Cole, also featured Eunice King of Northwest Texas Hospital.

Fritz Johnson once known as Larry Bader died in St. Joseph's Hospital after a public life as a bartender radio announcer and sports director in Omaha. Identified as a man legally dead in Akron in 1957 his double life divided his families and ended in tragedy.
