Motley floods South Plains. hail devastates Motley crops

Heavy rains drenched the South Plains with more than five inches in parts on Thursday, flooding croplands and slowing cotton and sorghum harvests. A Wednesday night hailstorm near Seagraves damaged about 1,000 acres and left hail the size of lemons across a six by three mile strip. In Motley County, 5.50 inches fell, Matador received 3.33 inches, and farmers faced delayed maturity of cotton and potential sprouting in grain heads. Weather relief was forecast with warmup and decreasing showers.

Thant urges UN to search for successor after draft bid
