Brookings moves to translate faith into daily work and home life through Faith in Life Week. The program, led by Rev Archie Madsen, involves doctors, lawyers, merchants, and others using occupational jargon in worship and outreach to stimulate practical religious discussion.
Forty four manti-letter signs have been erected in Lamesa under a city council directed campaign against littering. Signs were placed at drive in restaurants parks pool halls city entrances and around the downtown square. Police will enforce the ordinance which imposes a $25 fine on conviction.

A special election on a proposed 10 million dollar dam and water filtering system to serve six Texas Panhandle cities is set for September 28. Childress city council called the election to align with votes in Quanah Clarendon Headley Crowell and Paducah, with October elections in the other cities. If approved, water rates will rise on a graduated scale to fund the dam built by the Greenbelt Municipal and Industrial Water Authority.
The government approves a plan to establish a new university in Florence with a curriculum focused on European unity.
George Zimmerman, national chairman of the Romney for President Clubs, announces Paul O’Rourke as campaign consultant. Zimmerman notes O’Rourke is a construction man and veteran Republican worker, previously Dallas County Republican chairman from 1954 to 1956, with 59 Romney clubs in 18 states and 30 cities reported.
