U S Effort To Condemn Anti-Semitism In Treaty Fails
United States failed to secure a specific condemnation of anti Semitism in a United Nations racial discrimination treaty by a large vote. The Greek Hungarian proposal to delete specific references was approved by 82 12 with 10 abstentions. Israeli envoy Comay condemned bracketing Zionism with Nazism while the Soviet Union pressed for broader condemnation. The debate highlighted tensions over how to address anti Semitism and Zionism in the treaty text.
