Ed D. Allen Dies At 83 In Lubbock County Clerk Legacy
Ed D. Allen, a Lubbock resident since 1917 and seven terms as Lubbock County Clerk, died after 11:50 p.m. Sunday in West Texas Hospital from a malignancy. A former barber and real estate man, he retired in 1955 due to ill health after starting his seventh term’s first year. He was active in church and civic groups, a 32nd Degree Mason, and long time Lions Club member. He survived by his son H. I. D. Allen Jr. and was mourned by the community he served.
