Nude body found in steam trunk washes ashore on memorial day

A 20 year old woman identified tentatively as Nancy Pert of Miami was found murdered with no signs of violence. The trunk washed ashore at Great Kills Park on Staten Island as hundreds enjoyed Memorial Day. Police and medical examiner await further details.

Tech statement draws applause from lawmakers in Austin

Texas Tech officials told lawmakers they will not tolerate demonstrations that disrupt college activities. The statement defines force or violence to include stand ins sit ins and lie ins only when obstructive. Junior colleges seek $30.5 million in state aid

Texas junior college presidents told senators they would back a tax bill if the legislature increases funding for the 40 public junior colleges. They urged using fall 1967 enrollments for budgeting and argued local taxpayers have already funded much of the campuses. The group asked for 30.5 million to operate for the 1968 69 fiscal year.

Young robbers kill little dog in New Orleans attack

In New Orleans three teen assailants robbed 64 year old Sidney St. Pierre on a Thursday. As the man fell one of the youths fired at his small dog when it attempted to bite the gunman, killing the animal.

Savage storms hit the eastern South Plains and Panhandle with nearly a dozen tornadoes. Budget Cuts and Tax Boost Cleared by Johnson

President Johnson stated if Congress accepts a six billion dollar spending cut to fund a tax increase he will approve the conference report.
