Jones Defends Texas Tech Name Change Stance
State Rep Delwin Jones of Lubbock defended the plan to rename Texas Tech University to Texas Technological College and State University. He argued the board’s recommendation reflects responsible administration and that compromise with anti-board factions failed. Jones urged quick House passage to meet Senate approval deadlines before June.
