West Texas Air Terminal will receive 476,440 in federal matching funds to strengthen 2,500 feet of the north south runway and 6,500 feet of the south portion. The city plans June 24 bid openings for 953,000 in the north south work and 1,235,000 for east west improvements, financed by airport revenue bonds. Mayor Rogers credited Rep. Mahon and Sec. Volpe for expediting approvals, noting the projects precede a long range expansion program.
