North Vietnamese rocket fire hit the A Shau Valley near Ap Bia Mountain as U S paratroopers engaged nearby. The 101st reported 616 NVA and 46 Americans killed in the Ap Bia fight with 308 American wounded.
Apollo 10 pilots completed lunar checks and navigation tests that officials say support the July moon landing plan for Apollo 11. John Mayer notes the three astronauts would have landed within three miles of target, confirming calculations while a minor cooling-pump short circuit posed no threat.
George H Ferguson and Lydia Scott were wed May 23, 1909, in Crowell County. In Lub bock’s Highland Hospital after 60 years together, they remain happy. Ferguson, a lifelong farmer, celebrates with three children, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Their visit turnout includes family from Plainview, Dallas, and area.

The 10 percent income tax surcharge, spending cuts, and higher interest rates lag in taking effect, with April price rises and mortgage rates hitting records. Economists say it may take six to twelve months to see any real relief.
