Sculptures by Chamberlain Stolen in Junkyard Mix Up
Two 300 pound discarded metal sculptures by abstract expressionist John Chamberlain were mistaken for junk and hauled away by a scavenger near Chicago. Walter Kelly, owner of an art gallery, said neighbors saw an old flatbed truck in the alley and that he reported the loss to Chamberlain in New York. A $20,000 reward was offered, with no luck restoring the works, described as powerful and dynamic.
