Memphis Turmoil as King Led Protest Turns Violent

A King led protest in Memphis drew up to 6,000 people, turning violent with looting and fires. One 16 year old was killed and 48 injured, including four officers. Police used tear gas and night sticks as curfew and state emergency orders stretched 7 pm to 3 am. National guardsmen and riot patrols arrived as downtown and Beale Street suffered widespread damage.

Senate scraps Navy F111B TFX and orders substitute
