Texas Tech expands textile research program and honors donors

The Texas Tech Board of Directors approved a 500000 expansion of the Textile Research Center aiming for a 1 million dollar per year study of cotton quality and related problems in the Plains. Four professors were named as first Horm professors while the board honored longtime leaders and a killed astronaut with dormitory namings. The policy allows women over 25 to live off campus as part of campus reforms. The program seeks federal and state funds and support from the Cotton Producers Institute to elevate Tech into major league research.

U S denies bombing Soviet ship near Haiphong

The United States rejected Soviet claims that U S warplanes bombed the Turkistan 50 miles northeast of Haiphong.
