Mau Mau Fighters Emerge From Mt Kenya After 14 Years

Two aged Mau Mau fighters known as Captain Kimotho Ngenya and Officer Kamina Guthuthwa surrendered to Kerugaya police after living in Mt Kenya forest for about fourteen years. They were unaware Kenya gained independence and believed British rule remained. The pair survived by hunting trapping raiding beehives and making fires by rubbing sticks. They were shown newspapers by an old man revealing Jomo Kenyatta as president.

Marines claim smashing victory in northern South Vietnam

Burglary Spree Loots Sites and Vends Across City

Burglars hit two construction sites two businesses and a vacant house Saturday night in Lubbock. Tools worth about 1144 were taken from a site at 5521 20th St and 144 from Klein Development Co. at 3408 70th St. The Latin American man was bitten by a police dog after fleeing from 720 Mth St and 34th St. he was jailed awaiting charges. Three vending machines were looted at Mosier Steel Co. 2221 Erskine with an undetermined cash loss. A separate break in at 3506 20th St netted 56 in tools and equipment.

Three Die In Crosby County Head On Crash

A Crosby County family of three returning from a reunion died in a head on collision on U S 82 near Farm Road 267. Loyd Earl White 46 wife Mrs Loyd White 41 and son Richie B White 18 died at the scene. Patterson 75 of Benjamin was injured and hospitalized with multiple injuries. Rites pending as bodies were moved to McCauley Funeral Home and then Carter Funeral Home in Ralls. Surviving relatives include two other sons and extended family in Lubbock Seymour Weatherford and Munday.
