Republicans Lead Democrats In New England And Mid-Atlantic
George Gallup reports an American Institute of Public Opinion poll showing Republicans ahead of Democrats in New England and Middle Atlantic states if a presidential election were held today. Democratic strength has declined about seven points in the Middle Atlantic and six to six and a half in New England since 1944. The study notes electoral implications and cautions that seat predictions require district surveys and turnout considerations.
