Namu the killer whale dies in Seattle escape attempt

The orca Namu died after crashing into aquaria nets during a bid to flee his waterfront pen. Owner Ted Griffin says the 25 foot five ton whale may have swum the length of the pool before becoming tangled, possibly signaling loneliness during mating season. Namu, bought for about $8,000, was the second killer whale captured alive after Moby Doll in 1964.

Viet Cong Regiment Hit Near Cambodian Border Amid Rising Dead

U S infantry sweep roads near the Cambodian frontier report 54 more Viet Cong dead, bringing total Communist toll to 228 since Saturday. The 272nd Viet Cong Regiment estimated at 2000 men fought a night battle with armor, helicopters, artillery, and flame throwers.
