Timmy Smith Drowns at Florida River Camp Near Durango
Ten year old Timmy Smith son of Mr and Mrs Stanley F Smith drowned Saturday morning in the Florida River near Durango after falling from an inner tube at Silver Spruce Camp about 15 miles from Durango. Camp counselor Pat Thompson from Phoenix quickly pulled him from the water and nurses failed to revive him. Thompson was hospitalized for shock. The body was flown to Lubbock with funeral arrangements pending. Survivors include two sisters Karen and Cathy and four grandparents.
