Flu Threat Expected This Winter Says Public Health Service

The Public Health Service warned influenza may hit harder this winter across the United States. Pregnant women and the ill should plan to receive at least one vaccine dose this fall as outbreaks tend to cycle every two to three years. City Ends Tree Feud After Quiet Night Removal

Landscape architect Robert Fenton, 32, fought city hall over a 25 foot ash tree he planted outside his office. The tree was cut down by the city forester at night citing time to remove it and traffic concerns, costing about 275 dollars including materials. Fenton also disputes a parking meter issue, with the city charging 70 cents daily for the meter not being in ground.

Surgery Gives Relief From Lasting Hiccups

Atlanta woman Lucy McDonald 40 stopped hiccuping after surgery that paralyzed a throat nerve temporarily. The hiccups had persisted for nearly two years, costing her two jobs and weight loss. McDonald is a mother of three and the operation offered temporary relief.

Luci Johnson marked her 18th birthday by joining the Roman Catholic Church in a private baptism at St. Matthew's Cathedral. The noon service, kept secret by the White House, was attended by President and Mrs. Johnson and her sister Lynda.
