Fleeing Youth Shoots Crosbyton Sheriff in Barrracks Area
Crosbyton law officers joined a regional search for a 15 year old Latin American youth after Sheriff Fletcher Stark was shot in a late Sunday shootout near labor barracks. Stark remained in serious condition at Crosby County Hospital. The youth, last seen fleeing on foot, was alleged to have attempted to molest the sheriff’s daughter before the confrontation. Aubrey Stark, the sheriff’s son, provided the testimony of events. The outbreak occurred around 7:50 p.m. near Crosbyton gins as officers from Snyder and beyond converged in a widening net.
