Everett C. Thomas and Louis J. Fierro became Houston’s second and third heart transplant survivors to leave hospital. They rode in style to the Astrodome to watch the Astros and Mets, received VIP treatment, and were greeted by autographed baseballs and team caps as they celebrated their recovery milestones. Thomas, 47, from Phoenix, and Fierro, 54, from Elmont, N.Y., had transplants in May and traveled with escorts and wheelchairs supplied by hospital staff.
