Last Vietnam War casualty laid to rest with full honors
Col. William B. Nolde 43 of Mount Pleasant Mich died in Vietnam 11 hours before the cease fire took effect. He was the 45,941st American service member killed in Indochina and was buried at Arlington with a horse drawn caisson, the riderless Black Jack present. President Nixon offered condolences. Nolde devoted his life to the military after serving in Korea and was the senior adviser in Binh Long province. He hoped to rebuild a Catholic church at An Loc and visited Phu Van refugee camp. He is survived by his wife Joyce, five children, and his father Henry Nolde.
