Former Tech Star gets 25 days for assault
Mike Leinert 22, ex Texas Tech football player, pleaded nolo contendere to aggravated assault and was sentenced to 25 days in county jail plus a $200 fine. He addressed the court in Houston and was accused of beating a 20 year old Venezuelan student on Nov. 10.

Amarillo man sentenced in narcotics crackdown case
Valentino Ruben Ochoa, one of seven arrested in a city wide August narcotics sweep, was given five years in prison after a 47th district court jury found him guilty of possession of marijuana. Judge Gene Jordan denied probation due to two prior felonies and parole violations. Ochoa previously faced convictions for second degree murder and white slavery in California in 1957.
