Space cooperation possible in joint U S Soviet mission

American and Soviet scientists may sign within two months a joint space mission agreement, per the U S Embassy science attaché. NASA said the report reflects a misunderstanding and any agreement would need both governments' approval. The third working session focused on hardware compatibility and mission details.

Unemployment Rises to 6 Percent as Jobs Grow

The government reported an 6 percent unemployment rate for November with 4.8 million jobless, up 210,000, while total employed surged to a record 80 million. Salvation Army bell-ringer quits after theft incident

Susan Yoh, 20, quit her Salvation Army bell-ringing job in Pontiac after a thief stole the red kettle. Yoh chased the thief, was struck by a getaway car, and left with bruises but remained in good spirits. She cited earnings of $1.60 per hour and said she was not a Christian. Maj.
