Couple Burns Fighting Kitchen Fire At Home
A man and his wife were burned while attempting to extinguish a kitchen fire at 2406 Ave L. John Perry suffered third degree burns on his right foot and was treated at Reese AFB. his wife had minor arm burns. The blaze started in a deep fryer, confined to the kitchen with heavy contents damage and smoke injuries.

Burglars Sack Tools Pills in Winter Break-ins
Burglars struck Monday night and Tuesday across several sites. Dr. A. T. Stewart’s office at 4202 Ave Q lost pills and penicillin with $10 value. Modern Chevrolet and Pollard Ford auto shops reported tool and battery gear thefts totaling about $500. A 49 year old Brownfield woman was jailed for shoplifting from Globe's Discount Center after officers were alerted by store security. Two women remained hospitalized after suicide attempts and gas-odor incidents at local apartments. Two microphones and uniforms vanished from J. T. Hutchinson Junior High.

Testimony Continues In Evelyn Forrest Custody Suit
Tuesday testimony in 140th District Court addressed Evelyn Forrest and Gerald Lynn Forrest in a child custody dispute over their 3 year old daughter Angela Ainsworth Forrest. The suit, unusual for a custody case, is being tried to a jury. Mrs Forrest, a Cochran County resident and University of Texas student, seeks full custody with visitation rights for the father. The 1966 divorce awarded custody split: 2 months to Mrs Forrest and 10 months to Mr Forrest. Judge Robert H Bean recessed court until 9 a.m. today.
