The funeral for Oliver S Flint was held at 2 PM yesterday at 63 Woodward Avenue, with delegations from Canton Pawtucket Merrimack lodge and Monomoke encampment, bearers from each lodge, Rev. R A Greene officiating, and interment in Lowell cemetery, Undertaker Wenbeck in charge. The funeral for Mrs Allura W Evans was at 10 AM yesterday at 23 Marshal Street, with Rev Dr J M Greene officiating and burial in Windham New Hampshire, Undertaker Weinbeck in charge.
The National Democratic State Convention met at Faneuil Hall Boston selecting Hon. Godfrey Morse as temporary chair and Hon. Morefield Storey as permanent chair. They upheld the gold standard tariff for revenue only competitive examinations for civil service reform and opposed boss rule, Supreme Court attacks, and Chicago platform. William Everett was nominated by acclamation for Governor.

The Young Men s Republican club elected Ward One James G Hill Fred S Osterhout Samuel Scott Ward Three Burton H Wiggin Harry P Graves F J Timmons Ward Four J W W Tilton J D Bell Arthur Harriman Ward Six E B Trueworthy John C Farris Walter F Leighton to the executive committee. A planned October dinner in Associate Hall with two speakers was considered. Speakers invited include Senator Henry Cabot Lodge and Senator W E Chandler. Nelson Dingley was unavailable. The committee will decide on the dinner at a meeting Friday night.
Tomorrow evening both branches of the People’s club resume season operations in John street, with free admission and extensive entertainment and instruction facilities. The Nesmith building reading room reports large September attendance, while the women’s branch in Swan building offers a cozy space for reading and social hours. Millinery and dressmaking classes start in November, following a successful prior exhibition.

In Superior court this morning the case of Donovan versus the City of Lowell was heard by the court and jury. Sixteen witnesses were sworn for the city to show the city took reasonable prudent precautions for the protection of the excavation on Puffer Street where the plaintiff says his horse fell and was injured.
Alphonse Toussignant placed under peace bonds for threatening his wife. Edward Shea fined 615 for larceny of coupons from the Hub Clothing company. Thomas Crowe continued a day on a charge of obtaining money under false pretences. Nellie Hutchinson received 15 months to Sherborn for idle and disorderly conduct.
Police officer Patrick H. Brady is in great pain but doctors see a slight improvement. Medical staff say the outcome is not certain and a full recovery decision will take at least two days.
