Alma Nebraska September 29 A L Gordon’s farm house burned last night trapping three children who perished while the father, after rushing to the barn, returned to find the residence engulfed. Gordon was badly burned and may die.
Tacoma inspector condemns 1700 chests of tea from the steamer Tacoma from China as unfit for importation. The incident occurred on September 29 in Tacoma, Washington.

In Clinton Massachusetts Fred Speakman a 23 year old clerk and steward at the Clinton house disappeared after leaving his hotel early Saturday for errands. Four East Boston men who went to Hangman's island for a sail returned safely after weather delays. A Braintree Weymouth car killed Mrs Jones aged about 50 in South Weymouth while she walked on the track. Mrs Sylvia Rand died from severe burns at the Chadwick building Worcester from a gasoline stove fire at age 79.
The 12th annual Woman's Universalist Missionary Society session opened at Grace Church with praise and prayer led by Rev. Ada Bowles. Officers were elected, reports given on funds and loans, and resolutions paid tribute to retiring president Mrs. Start and charter member Mrs. Knight.
One or two clergymen participated in the morning session while many delegates arrived whose names were not listed in yesterday's directory.
The Massachusetts Society of Colonial Wars held its fall field day with members and ladies arriving from Boston to Billerica at 11 a.m. They visited the Billerica Historical Society rooms and were hosted at Bennett Hall by Hon. Joshua B. Holden. A special train then carried the party to Bedford at the Sweetwater hotel for colonial history addresses. Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Adams participated.
Mrs Charles H Hanson and a blind boy Arthur Salmon were thrown from a buggy when the forward axle broke near Davis Square. The boy sustained a severe bump while Mrs Hanson suffered a broken rib and multiple bruises. The horse also struck a stone post and appeared to have internal injuries.
In Lowell, jurors found for the City in O'Brien vs City of Lowell. Later, James C Donovan vs Lowell proceeded, alleging city negligence for an open excavation on Puffer street without lights. Plaintiff injured, horse killed, hospital stay two weeks, damages claimed up to 2000. Defense denied. Case not finished at noon.
Police Officer Patrick H L Brady was severely injured after a fall down stairs at his Crawford street home in Pawtucketville. He moved from 176 Crosby street Tuesday and spent the night there before hours later his condition deteriorated. He was taken to St John’s Hospital where doctors found a ruptured bladder and planned surgery to assess recovery prospects.
Jeremiah T. O Sullivan fights for life as doctors give up hope and his father delays a trip to Asheville. A change to southern air is seen as the only chance to regain strength before a potential journey south.

The funeral for Michael Garrigan was held yesterday afternoon with services at the grave in the Catholic cemetery conducted by Rev. R. S. Burke of St. Patrick's Church. Bearers were John Shea, Robert Gookin, Hugh Tighe, John Daley of Littleton, John Hatton, and Coleman O'Laughlin. Undertaker Savage managed the arrangements.
At 1 o'clock this morning a St. John’s hospital physician reported John Rourke’s condition as resting comfortably after a fall from a pear tree left him with a fractured spine. Strong hopes were entertained for his recovery.
Mr. George R. Carothers, principal of Lowell Manual Training school, delivered an address last evening in the Pawtucket burcen before the Pawtucketville Temperance association on the subject of manual training.
