New York October 1. Mrs Caroline Ravinius of West Point and her four children were found dead by asphyxiation in the West Shore hotel this morning. The woman had evidently killed her children and committed death by her own action. She came from West Point last night. The children were two boys aged 8 and 15 and two girls aged 7 and 13.

O’Sullivan leaves Lawrence for North Carolina for health. Ward and Riley return from California after letter carriers convention. Frank and James Cuttle return from New York and Philadelphia on a tandem trip lasting two and a half weeks. Thomas Hartley to lead spinning at Moore's mill in North Chelmsford. Mrs. J. W. Stewart and Miss Lillian Stewart stranded atop Mt. McGregor after engine derailment.
Superior Court judge Lilley heard the trial over damages of 2000 sought by Donovan for injuries to himself and his horse after falling into a hole on Puffer Street left unprotected at night. Co plaintiff Burke seeks recovery for similar injuries. The city argues no negligence and proper fencing and lighting. Jury retired at noon to deliberate.
In Hadley Police Court eight individuals were fined one dollar for drunkenness and one person was released. Hattie Farwell and Alice Connors described as stubborn children were involved in cases. Six boys each paid one dollar for throwing stones. Thomas Crowe and James Brown received ten and fifteen dollar fines for stealing squirrels. Albert Defoe, labeled a vagrant, was jailed for six months. Charles E Cahill and Lester Grant each paid ten dollars for drunkenness.
Funeral services for Rev. Dr. Court are set for one o clock Sunday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church on Appleton street. Elders will conduct the rites and Rev. Dr. J M Greene will deliver a eulogistic sermon.
Obituary received in Lowell reports the death of Dr Jennison's father at his Foxcroft Missouri home. The text notes a recent registration session with 53 passing through the grind, bringing the total to 197.
The ordinances panel adjourned Thursday night for lack of a quorum while the municipal expenditures committee debated a $26,000 loan for the Water Board. It would fund a stand pipe, pipework through the filter gallery, and land to prevent future building lot filling. Reports to be presented Tuesday. Also, a 4:20 p.m. session addresses the Smith Brothers claim. bids for the New Moody Street primary school structure were opened with contractors visiting Supt. Bray’s office.
The French Republican Club met at headquarters with about 70 members present. William Drapeau presided as the committee was formed to secure speakers for a ward six event to engage French voters. Thirty new members were admitted and a future Oct 2 adjournment followed an address by Chairman Poore.
The funeral from 283 Lakeview Ave. Thursday at 2 pm was largely attended. Rev. Fr. Gliiday officiated with bearers James Shields Thos Murphy Owen Neirney Patrick Fahey Thos Lyons and Thos Duddy. Many floral offerings marked the services directed by C. H. Molloy.
In this city on September 29, at St Peter's parochial residence, James McGinn and Mary McCahey were united in marriage by Rev Fr McManus. Also, John J Mahoney wed Mary Sheehan in this city.
Death notices record the passing of Josephine infant daughter of Nicholas and Josephine Roberts at 7 Doyles Yard off Fenwick Street on September 30. William infant son of William and Winnifred Welch died at 211 Lakeview Ave on September 30.

Dr Court wed Miss Gilchrist on June 20 1860 in Kilmarnock Scotland and moved to Glasgow where he lectured and debated before his ministerial ordination. His wife remained devoted until her illness. they had no children. He served as chaplain and honorary member of Ancient York lodge F and A M and joined Mechaness lodge I C C F in 1874. He held honorary memberships in Excelsior Integrity and Wamesit lodges I O O F Manchester Unity and became an honorary member of Clan Grant at its recent organization.
The eighth annual convention of the Universalist Y P C U opened at Grace church with devotional sessions led by Mrs. Sarah H. Prouty. President O G Petrie spoke on unity and duty, committees were named, finances reviewed, and delegates discussed per capita assessments and district work as the meeting progressed toward closing adjournment after dinner.
Miss Alice Harington of Canton outlined the need for Senior and Junior union cooperation to engage Youth in church life. She urged committees to report progress between groups and emphasized training children as key to a living Christ influence. Harry Hersey of Dorchester described district work and progress, advocating evolution over revolution and noting the church’s strength through the Young People’s union. Rev Leslie Moore of Claremont, NH, spoke briefly, noting personal profit in the shared work.

Patrick Egan suffered a severe head cut after a fall at Church and George streets yesterday. ambulance carried him to St Johns hospital.
