In Lakeview Avenue police court Albert Anderson who leaped from a third story window to escape arrest was jailed after his fall left him unconscious. Judge Hadley offered stern counsel on risk taking and ordered a cave on fire. Anderson was taken to the city farm. Mary E. Howe an old offender received six months at the workhouse with possible probation. Relph A. Clark earned probation with implied duties. Beverly Watson’s assault case continued. Joseph Donnelly claimed he loafs for outdoor work, insisting he prefers plays. case filed. John Landers withdrew appeal from a four month jail sentence. Mrs. Sarah Berean pressed for distance from her abusive husband. Alfred denied the charge and was fined fifteen dollars with six months peace bonds. An assault trial continued into the afternoon. Superior Court in Sherman opened its second day with Jefferson vs Richardson et al, hearing plaintiff testimony and witnesses including Dr. Jefferson, Miss Dorothy Johnson, Dr. Carolin, Dr. Linstrom, and Francis Chapelle.
Voters in ward three are urged to elect Richard Dobbins as representative citing tested character and proven integrity in prior service.

The convention adjourned at 1:25 pm without nominations after Serena D. Payne was named permanent chair and Thomas C. Platt received a hearty welcome. President McKinley was cheered during Payne's speech.
Port Townsend Washington September 27 The steam schooner Fulton from St Michael s brought 59 miners and nearly 100000 dollars in gold dust Seventeen persons were drowned during the season at Hotton Inlet and many others are missing The average death rate in Dawson is five a day.
Paris on September 27 reports the American peace commission met at the Continental hotel. The official reception pleased the delegates but the wider Parisian mood toward America is cool or indifferent.
Lawrence September 27 Walter A Savage and Frederick A Carr common councilmen indicted by the grand jury for attempting to obtain money from architects in return for votes in favor of plans for a new high school house.
Annie Borden of Providence died in Roxbury when gas was left on in her bed. Police treat as accidental. body discovered this morning in a house on Sept 27. Authorities believe she was a domestic of Providence and died from asphyxiation due to gas exposure.
The ship carried 14 Lowell soldiers from companies C and G. George F. Waugh and Mede Tremble were taken to City Hospital in Boston. The remaining Lowell men were ordered home. They would depart on the 3 o'clock train and arrive via Merrimack Street, with three ambulances on standby.
Telegram notified the death of Chester Cummings twenty-year-old private in Co. M at St. Francis hospital New York. His parents learned of the loss when the telegram was opened at noon. The body will be brought to Lowell for burial after his enlistment on May 4 and his work at Lowell Machine Shop.
The body of Private John H. Marshall arrives at Middlesex Street station at 1:38 with a flag covering the casket, as reported on page 8. He is conveyed to a local funeral arrangements in Lowell.
The U S cruiser Montgomery has arrived in Newport Rhode Island this forenoon coming from Porto Rico.
Early morning blaze at No 60 Walker Street nearly razed a barn while the attached house escaped. Firemen from Box 53 saved the house after about an hour of effort. The carriage house burned, with the barn in ruins. No livestock, occupants away with grandparents. Insurance held by H. C. Church & Son. Suspected arson by a temporary lodger.

In Lowell last night the Democratic caucus chose delegates for state county councillor senatorial and congressional conventions. Flynn supporters won the congressional delegates amid a fierce fight with ward 2 and 6 ballots and minor stuffing in ward 7. Total votes 994 in seven wards. Flynn 700 to Bruce 294. lists of pledged delegates follow for each race with names such as J F Dawson Edward F Cooney John P Maguire and others. The session featured disorder as rails were smashed and checklists torn before adjournment Jeremiah Murphy chaired the meeting and Smith Adams was secretary.
The scene centered in ward 2 with Candidate Flynn present as factions clashed over chairmanship and ballot procedures. Muldoon resisted Flynn tactics, rail and lists were torn, a crowd near riot, and adjournment set to Tuesday. Delegates chosen amid factional lines show Flynn leading in several wards.
In Ward Seven the tally arrived late with 307 total votes. Flynn delegates led 243 to 67 in congressional picks, with lists for state and county delegates and councillor and senatorial selections. In Ward Five and Ward Two factional fights produced two delegating slates, Bruce and Flynn, each voting blocks for delegates and officers, with overall contest continuing.
