New York Sept 25 The Madison Avenue Baptist church has extended a call to Rev George C Lorimer of Tremont temple Boston to become pastor. A midnight mail letter notified Lorimer after a unanimous member vote. The church, financially strong, has been pastorless since last spring when Rev Henry M Sanders resigned.
The Schley court of inquiry reconvened at 11 a m with witnesses including A D Claxton machinist aboard the Texas who described engine reversal during the battle and Rear Admiral Cotton who recounted dispatches and a discussion with Schley about coaling difficulties amid rough seas Isadore Rayner is named Schley’s leading counsel with Captain James Parker and M A Tague assisting.

Miles McGovern of Armour & Co. in New Haven was killed at the 580 pm incident at the packing house on Cedar Street. The elevator shaft decapitated him after he slipped while attempting to board. His wife had just given birth to a child, heightening the tragedy.
Michael O Donnell aged 50 of 53 Warren avenue Brookline fell from an iron girder on the fourth floor of a new building Abram French is erecting on Franklin street. He died at the Emergency hospital last evening from internal injuries. He was employed by Angus McDonald. He leaves a wife and a two month old child.
A Kansas City dispatch reports J S Croswell, pursued by a posse near Rolla Missouri, shot himself before capture and died instantly. The incident followed a report that Croswell was involved in a murder, ending his flight.

Eugene Peroux, 15, suffered a severe accident at Merrimack Croquet factory this morning when his right hand was caught in a saw. At Emergency hospital the thumb was amputated at the first joint and three fingers at the second joints.
