John Most editor of Freiheit was arrested Sunday in Corona during an anarchist speech at a dance hall behind a saloon. He appeared before Magistrate Connerton in Flushing, and the case was adjourned to Friday to allow translation of papers found on Most.
In Lynn on September 26 the Massachusetts Universalist convention elected officers and trustees. Frank P. Bennett of Saugus became president with S H Roblin of Boston as vice president and F W Sprague of East Boston as secretary. Sidney H. Buttrick of Melrose was named treasurer. Trustees include D M Hodges of Franklin and D J Flanders of Malden for two years, with J B Horton of Roxbury as fellowship chair and J C Snow of Newton and A A Wyman of Somerville as sermon preacher. F W Hamilton of Roxbury was named preacher of the occasional sermon.

In a light city caucus, Charles H Hanson won the senatorial nomination in the seventh Middlesex district by carrying Chelmsford and Dracut and five Lowell wards. James McKinley took ward seven and one Democratic ward for 10 delegates. Hayes beat Kimball 420 to 204 for representative in ward seven. Hanson praised a spirited race and expected party support to win at the polls.
Charles H. Armstrong, pugilist, was arraigned in police court on a manslaughter charge related to John A. Dionne’s death after an August 15 boxing match. The trial featured testimony from Dionne’s physicians, witnesses at Urban Hall, and detailed autopsy findings, with further defendants to be tried the next day.
In the 25th district Hayes 420 Kimball 204 Smith 385 Baliesis numbers show. Ward results and Democratic turnout shifted focus to wards 6 and 7 as Hanson gains delegates totaling 23 with ward 6 contribution. McKinley at headquarters conceded Hanson’s likely win after ward 7 tallies, signaling a decisive victory.
Kenneth J. MacKenzie elected chairman and J. G. Hill clerk of ward 1. Balloting started at 4 p m with delegates named for State County and District Attorney Councillor Senatorial and Representative positions including George E Putnam Edward T Goward James G Hill Homer H Nay and others.
The ward caucus opened at 7 p.m. John Tighe was named chairman with Ronnie Wood as clerk. Delegates chosen include State John Tighe and William A. Pratt, W. Tryon and William Hardy, Councillor John Tighe and George S. Holt, Senatorial Charles H. Hanson James Tryon and Wilfred Drainville, and Representative Arthur D. Keddy Rennie Wood and Wilfred Drainville.
Ward 3 organized with Joseph Mullen chosen chairman and Charles H. Worcester named clerk. With a light Republican vote, 365 ballots were cast. Belloting results list State candidates James W. Bennett, Joseph Miller, Isaac B. E. Wotton, Charles and others.
