In Sturgeon Falls Ontario on September 21 a house fire killed three daughters of Leander Gatieu and injured three other children. Five more children escaped the blaze with narrow misses as the home was destroyed.
New Orleans reports a greatly improved fever situation this morning with a lower thermometer at 62. No new cases were reported, offering relief to residents and health authorities.

Ira Leonard died at his home 9 Methuen street at 9.25 Monday evening aged 91. Born in Allenstown New Hampshire February 14 1806 he lived in Lowell over 20 years. Former pianoforte hardware maker with shops on Dutton and Middle streets. Retired in recent years he traveled widely. Survived by daughter Mrs Lorin A Corliss and nephews S B Leonard and another in Boston plus a niece Miss Clara Worth. Funeral plans pending with address by L K Washburn if available.

A committee on rallying for registration and general campaign work was named, with Thomas O'Laughlin, Cara J. Mlynn, William Rafferty and others to lead the bulk of the work after the municipal caucuses.
