Owen J. Carney former Waverly house proprietor had a narrow escape when the horse bolted after a bit broke in the horse’s mouth. He was thrown to the ground on Broadway around 1 15 pm and taken to St Johns Hospital with a general shaking up but no serious injuries expected.
The two children of Everett B. E. Nichols of Lexington Avenue narrowly escaped fatal poisoning after chewing fly paper. A neighbor’s boy had recently given them chewing gum and they began exploring the house before symptoms appeared.

Padelford criticized Mrs Biddys Science and Health and related teachings. The sermon and review drew interest. The gathering closed with Landlord Bowers turkey dinner.
Lakeview pavilion employees held their first annual outing at Mountain Rock today. The all day event began with a forenoon baseball game and closed with an evening bowling tournament. Dinner was served by D L Page at noon. About 75 people attended, including several invited guests.
Officers McCann and Gregg surprised Joseph Corcoran as he opened the store at Central and Gorham streets about 6 o'clock. Two bottles of whiskey were taken from Barnard's store. McCann jumped over the counter, recovering the whiskey before it could be hidden. Barnard faces court on illegal keeping charges.
In a new lot incident a saucer contained old fly paper which was reached unseen by a child and others. They fell violently ill, a physician treated them, and all were pronounced out of danger. The oldest child is just over three years old.
William R. Littlefield, accused of polygamy, was arrested in New York by Cambridge Police Inspector Murray and held at Middlesex County Jail in East Cambridge. Indicted at the June Middlesex grand jury for polygamy, he allegedly wed Sadie McDermott in 1891 and later Louisa Wells, with two homes in Somerville and Cambridge.

Mrs Catherine M Feeney died at her Moody street home Saturday night at 65. She was a longtime Lowell resident devoted to her family and held in esteem by many friends. She leaves husband John Feney two sons Frank J Feeney a bookkeeper and John W Feeney a Middlesex street station announcer and daughter Mary T Feeney. Funeral at St Patrick's church Tuesday morning at 4 o'clock.
Frank J. Campbell, clerk at A. E. L Moore's pharmacy, received a certificate as registered pharmacist. He was the sole successful candidate among 23 examined by the board. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wiles have returned home after an extended Maine coast trip. Dr. Alfred Lingstrom was in the city recently to arrange his affairs.
John Dennis & Co. on Western avenue involved as Margaret Boyle is charged with shop lifting and faces five months in jail. Walter Johnson and Max Winkle are accused of keeping liquor with proceedings continued until Wednesday. Joseph A. Bourget and Archil Mercier are fined 75 dollars each for illegal sale and keeping on each complaint.
Following their regular 7 o'clock Tuesday meeting in Spinners hall Middle street the Carpenters union will hold a free public meeting addressed by Joseph F Maloney of Worcester one of the speakers Labor Day night on the South common. There will be other prominent speakers and everyone will be welcome.
Yesterday the new Pawtucket church opened with crowded services and praise for its appearance and organ. Tomorrow evening the organ recital by Edgar A. Barrell is expected to draw the church to full capacity.
A party of 25 members from the German Masonic lodge of Lawrence with families enjoyed boating and amusements at Willow Dale today. A. G. Boehn managed the event with dinner served upstairs and social time planned after.
The superior civil court was adjourned this morning because no cases were ready for trial. It will not sit again for one week.

Fifteen year old Elinor Palmer of Rogers Hall passed twelve hours of Radcliffe exams. Mrs S G Todd attends New York openings. Jenny Lind Lewis skips stage season due to her father’s illness. Audley Marshall named superintendent of Lindale cotton mills. C P Harlow takes Norristown YMCA secretary role. Powell club members camp at Simpson Pond for two weeks. D Dana Bartlett to move to Winchester. Deputy Moffatt resumes duties after two weeks away. Mrs J Tyler Stevens plans extended European trip via St Louis with several companions studying in Europe.
Deputy Fire Marshal Scott and Charles A. Brigham of the State fire marshal's Office with Chief Hosmer and authorities say there is no reliable evidence yet to refute the accounts of James H. Williams and George Fournier, both arrested Friday, with no link found to the fire. They will face police court on Tuesday after a full report to State Fire Marshal Whitcomb.
