In Boston the regular Democrats prevailed in last night's caucuses while Mr Bryan seems to have lost faith in Mr Cochran. Willie Smith rises to golf champion of America and Venezuela braces for a coast guard presence with its sole steamer after another revolution.
At Rochester New Hampshire on September 15 C B Bennett a parachute jumper had a close call when his balloon rose 125 feet before bursting tearing a hole in the side. He fell landed on his feet rebounded and physicians say no bones are broken though internal injuries are feared. Bennett is from Boston. The fair also saw a track record drop a quarter second in the first heat of the free for all with Belle Colley beating Peter Turner previously holding the mark at 2 13 5.
Gustavus Walker, president of the Concord and Rochester railroad, announces immediate steps to build the line from Concord through Chichester London Pittsfield Worth Wood to Rochester. Stock will be issued in 190 shares with 50 half shares and 25 quarter shares, to be subscribed by a broad citizen movement. A large delegation will tour the route to solicit subscriptions.

A morning fire in Lincoln Nebraska caused losses exceeding half a million dollars. The blaze started in the three story North block housing printing firms and swept through the Masonic temple public library Methodist church and Webster block, all destroyed.

Mrs Frank P Haggett died after a kerosene light foul up near a stove in Sat Walker street home. Firefighters found her body beside a burning stove in a cellar littered with smoke. Dr EB M Nelson a well known Boston dentist died after apoplexy struck him at 149 Tremont street where he was treating a patient. He collapsed while operating and died at 2 AM at Massachusetts General Hospital. Medical Examiner Harris will hold an inquest. He leaves a widow and two children. He had resided in Reading and practiced in Lowell in the 1880s.
Charles E Mahoney a Lowell post office clerk was arrested by Inspector Bulmer on charges of taking letters from the US mails. He was moved to Boston for arraignment before the US commissioner. The case shocks locals as Mahoney had long been known and trusted.
Mrs John Slattery died yesterday at her home 56 Charlea Street Court leaving a husband four children and a sister Mrs Bile Larkin. Annie McDonald aged one month and fourteen days child of Angus and Mabel died yesterday at their home 25 Sawtelle Place.
The funeral of Frances H. Owen widow of Frank N. Owen occurred at her First Street home. Rev R A Greene conducted the service with Mr Daly singing O Paradise and Abide With Me. Burial followed in the Lowell cemetery under Mr Currier. Bearers were Sawtelle Owen McCleery and Aldrich.
Capt Hemenway and his wife plan to return from a Chelsea Vermont cottage in about two weeks. Mrs Blanche Shute and Miss Nellie Trim vacation at Gloucester for two weeks after a Springfield visit. Mr and Mrs Llewellyn Trevor Jones welcome a new baby boy at home. This is their fourth son, joining three girls, with congratulations pouring in from family and friends.
