Rev. J. P. Stewart of Rochester New York who had been treated for cancer of the throat at Carney Hospital South Boston died at 7 o clock this morning Reuters notes the clergy member was under care for throat cancer and has passed away early today.

At a Hudson town meeting the Board of Selectmen were authorized to form a committee to confer with the Soldiers' Monument association about placing a soldiers' monument on Wood square. The association committee has 1032 dollars in the bank and efforts to raise more are already in progress. The Selectmen will report back at a future meeting.
Howell Cobb, son of Capt. John A. Cobb and grandson of Gen. Howell Cobb a former speaker and treasury secretary, died instantly Thursday when an engine exploded on his Americus Georgia plantation.
A four year old boy named Gleason from Ready's court off Walker street wandered away and was reported missing. Neighbors saw him but did not intervene. The police and his father searched the town until morning, when he was found near Chelmsford and taken to the city farm before being returned home to a joyous reunion.
The Paran Stevens properties in New York including the vacant Victoria hotel at Fifth Avenue and Thirty seventh Street may be partitioned by the two main heirs Mrs John L Metcher and Mrs Arthur Henry F Paget. The estate also includes a valuable lot with one story stores and other parcels. Offers for leasing or purchasing the Victoria have reached up to 70000 per year and bids have ranged from 1500000 to 1800000. If partition proceeds the holdings could be developed by the individual owners where the estate failed to act.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for James Doyle of Lakeview Avenue with burial in the Catholic cemetery. Mr and Mrs Neild of ward four returned from their wedding trip and hosted a reception that evening for friends. Refreshments were served. The couple’s parents and sister attended. Many beautiful presents were displayed and Miss Ruth Neild sang. The event was enjoyed by all.
Angelina St. Jean died at 8 Ward street aged 15 days on September 3. Belle A. Ross wife of Percy H. Ross died at 30 Burnside street aged 29 years 7 months on September 4.
A Boston Globe despatch details a tense Rockland Me meeting of Red Seal stockholders. Three disputing groups clashed over unpaid stock, with Rockland leaders accused of pressuring original holders to pay parity, while others argued for a trustee or receiver to handle debts. Proxies filled the room but a quorum failed, triggering plans for a later equity suit by Chaplin Pattangall and others in Knox County Supreme Judicial Court.
Hon Charles F Littlefield summarized the case as stockholders failing to reach a majority. A noon count failed to produce a quorum, then a 2 pm meeting in a hose house featured heated remarks about management and the Rockland loan. Directors mortgaged the plant for 10000 and an equity suit was proposed to recover about 75000 from Rockland stockholders.
