Congress of Peru passed a vote of censure against the government over delays in promulgating measures from last year’s special session. The cabinet has resigned as a result, a fact confirmed today in Lima.
The Chicago branch of the Single Tax league gathered for its regular monthly meeting in tears, devoting the session to the apotheosization of Henry George. Nearly every member knew Mr George personally and paid tribute in a solemn public acknowledgment.

Smith’s case continued with Sidney Drewett and others testifying before the defendant spoke.
The jury returned a verdict of guilty just before adjournment with bonds of 1500 dollars posted for the defendant to appear Monday morning when sentence will be imposed. As the Smith case retired, Thomas Johnson faced trial for allegedly keeping liquor at 13 Fayette Street, inspector Donaldson testifying as the first witness.
A quantity of liquor and glasses smelling of liquor were found. Donaldson testified he aided by Peter Martin, who returned a bottle of whisky and exchange coins later found on the defendant. Martin, now at the city farm for drunkenness, was not summoned. Johnson claimed Martin left money. Mrs Johnson denied selling liquor. The court adjourned with jurors warned not to discuss the case.
James Robinson arrested by Officer Lane for possessing two pairs of trousers and $8, charged with larceny and drunkenness, appeared in Police court. McManus and Duffy testified. trousers recovered identified as theirs. Robinson fined six months and one month respectively. Other cases followed including fines for bicycle law, drunkenness, and assorted petty offenses.
A letter to the editors from CHAS A DIMON rejects claims that he urged Mr Pearson's candidacy through his associate Mr Conway. He states he never advised Conway on Pearson and instead asked him to support Hon J Crowley as the Democrats’ mayoral candidate in Lowell.
Tatro Jordan, a painter at 61 Fifth street, fell from a hook-supported staging at 11:30 am, receiving forehead and nose cuts. Two others escaped with scratches. Jordan was sent to St. John's hospital. He lives on Appleton street and had been in Lowell two weeks.
A Pearson for Mayor meeting in Goodman Templar, Gorham street, drew about 125 Democrats from Wards Four, Eight and Nine. Speakers praised Pearson, attacked Cummings, condemned press bias, urged a straight Democratic ticket and publicized party loyalty and reform goals ahead of the Tuesday election.
A large mixed breed dog, part Newfoundland and shepherd, was pulled from the canal under Merrimack street at Huntington hall after a harrowing struggle. About 200 onlookers watched as ropes and a noose finally brought the half dead animal to the bank amid enthusiastic applause.

At Mechanics Hall on Thursday evening twenty eight young women from Mrs Charles P Kelley’s Sunday school class of the First Trinitarian Congregational church honored her on the second anniversary of her marriage and her tenth year as their teacher. The scene reflected close bonds between teacher and pupils and their communal respect.
The class decorated the hall with evergreen and autumn foliage. Mr and Mrs Kelley along with Rev. Mr and Mrs Kenngett received under a floral arch. The young women served as ushers and hosted chocolate and cake. Mr Kenngett presented Mrs Kelley with a bouquet as Miss Nettle Studley read selections and the Lyceum orchestra provided music.
