Charles F. Furlong a Lowell native died of typhoid in Glen Falls hospital after a three week illness. He came to Glen Falls in September to canvass for pictures and registered from Boston at Collins House. He had a brother John J. Furlong and an aunt, both distant, not wishing contact. He wished Catholic rites and was visited by Rev. Fr. Reilly. He worked for Clinton Rhodes and Co. in Chicago and Albany earlier. He will be buried in St. Mary's cemetery.
James E. Shepard longtime Lawrence resident and supreme secretary of the Pilgrim Fathers died at his home in Lawrence at 3 o'clock this morning. A Democrat and former city clerk from 1877 to 1884, he edited a local daily and a weekly. He helped found the United Order of Pilgrim Fathers and served as its supreme secretary since 1881. He was known in New England and a close friend of Lieut. Gov. Baies. He leaves a wife.
The bank transacts general banking business and issues foreign exchange payable worldwide in English, French, German and Swedish money. It provides safety deposit boxes with private coupon rooms and a savings department offering 4 percent per annum compounded semi annually with monthly interest. It features a ladies banking room and serves as a depository for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Banking hours are 8 am to 4 pm daily, Saturdays 8 am to 1 pm, and 7 to 9 pm. Banking rooms are located at 46 Middlesex Street and 11 to 24 Post Office Avenue.

A small detachment of American infantry and cavalry attacked a much larger Filipino force near Narvican in Ilocos. Despite heavy pressure, the Americans withdrew in good order. Casualties include several killed and wounded and several missing. the insurgent losses are estimated above 150.
The Democratic city committee sent a list of election supervisors to the Governor, while Republicans must follow. Officials admit the role is unnecessary and costly, serving political ends. Pay may remain at five dollars, with forty four officials needed to cover both parties at each precinct, costing about two hundred seventy dollars. Charles W Bowley of Chelmsford died suddenly Friday afternoon while living with his father James R Bowley near the Chelmsford Lowell line on the main road to Lowell. The death is said to be caused by drinking alcohol used in paint preparation. Medical Examiner Irish will view the body this afternoon.
Middlesex County Teachers Association met at Tremont Temple Boston with President Fred C. Baldwin of Somerville in the chair. Speakers included William T. Long of Stamford on Nature and the Child and William L. Tomlins of New York on The Relation of Music to Education. Reverend Josiah Strong closed the morning with New Conditions Confronting the New Century and the Everett high school chorus performed in the afternoon.
The Hospital Guild held a well attended meeting in the council room of the Middlesex Women’s club with about 60 people present. Plans for the forthcoming work were discussed and donations may be left with listed local volunteers at several streets and numbers.
Edward Donohoe, known for swindling downtown merchants, was sentenced in police court to one year in the work house and will recuperate at the city farm. Sanity evaluation by Dr. Benner found chronic alcoholism as the cause of his apparent mental instability. Other cases included fornication charges against William M. Gramer and Mary J. Foley, with fines and jail time, and larceny tied to a pawnbroker theft case. The court also handled juvenile matters and a potential grand jury proceeding for Mary L. Heroux on receiving stolen property.
