Marlboro Oct 22 It emerged after Dennis O Keefe died that he was not destitute as feared. Police found about $1100 in cash and bonds sewn in a shabby coat lining along with bank books totaling nearly $4000.
The post office department orders a military post office station at Cavite Philippines to be known as Military Station No. 2 of the San Francisco post office.
The Cunarder Etruria departed Liverpool for New York carrying Senator Redfield Proctor and opera singer Maud Roundebush, who had been saved from the Mohegan.
Boody Wilbert H Boody of this city takes control of the Park in Manchester New Hampshire on November 1 replacing the former German theatre. In recent years about $20 000 has been invested upgrading the theatre now famous as Park praised as a premier New England playhouse outside Boston with a modern stage and complete equipment.
Manager Boody holds a five year lease with renewal option for the Part theatre on Elm street. It will run with Music hall sharing attractions at popular prices. Local manager Court, stage manager Guild, and ad manager Callahan are named. The front of house remains attractive and staff may stay.
The U. T. club entertained about a hundred couples at Highland hall last night. Elvin's orchestra provided the music and a cake walk was part of the programme. Officers included General manager Frank W. Reeves, assistant Albert Bernard, treasurer Hugh McDermott, floor director Peter Wallerand, chief aid Albert Bram.
The Ladies' Charitable association of the Highland Congregational church hosted a sociable in the church vestry last night. A supper was served by Mrs. W. H. Kimball assisted by several ladies including Mrs. Barrett, Mrs. Merrill, and Mrs. George Chase with others helping as waiters Everett Hadley Walter Hadley Clark White and Chester Hunt.
At a recent meeting the Knights of Malta did not pledge to patronize only Friday night closing stores. Instead they approved an expression of sympathy for clerks campaigning for Friday closing.
New York city gospel singer J. A. Birkholz will perform at the Young Men's Christian Association song service tomorrow at 4 p m. All men are invited to attend and hear this noted artist.

He will perform at 10 30 a m and 6 30 p m tomorrow, singing favorites from camp including The Ninety and Nine. Rev S Hartwell Pratt will preach morning and evening. all soldiers and the public are invited.

October grand jury report before Judge Lilley lists indictments in Lowell, with defendants ordered to appear for trial next Monday. Names include Sheehan, McDonald, Mason, Shea, Toupin, Reed, Valgaris, Desrosiers, Cusick, Ryan, Dean, Keyes, Lassard, Stone, Ferrin, Rogers, Moran, Wentworth, LeMay, Harris, Hines, McCarthy, Welch, O’Brien, Aubin, Kenney, Brossineault. Several pleaded guilty or were out on bail. court adjourned to Cambridge for further county reports.
Five of seven drunks faced the court this morning were first offenders. Four fined one dollar, one released. Lizzie C. O’Connor sent to Sherborn reformatory for one year. George A. Sawyer to workhouse for three months. James Taylor larceny case continued with $300 bond. Edward Seely drunkenness case fined $5. Richard Paquin assault and battery on file. George Williams, under 19, held for further examination. Christ Lampros to superior court for larceny. Also a mortgage sale notice listing 121 Powell street Lowell with a ten‑room residence, stables, and extensive outbuildings, auction set for Oct 25 1898, 3 pm, by E Conant Co. Mortgages handled by Perham and Conant.
