Michael O Day 21, an employee in the Tremont and Suffolk mills board room, collapsed at work this morning while reading a paper. He died within minutes. medical examiner cites heart failure. He lived at 187 Perkins street, married with no children. Surviving family includes mother Mrs Mary O Day, brothers Patrick and James, sister Delia, and another married sister Mrs Katie Dunlavey, all in nearby streets. Cemetery arrangements pending.

A large wooden barn owned by William E. Riggs in Tewksbury, housing six horses and 40 tons of hay, burned after 11:40 PM. Firefighters battled a massive blaze, with six horses saved at great risk, and damage estimated around 4900 with mortgagees Davis and Sargent likely insured. A powder magazine near the site prompted guard duty during the blaze. In a separate incident, a closet fire on Marshall Street caused slight damage with BK. C. Church & Son noting house insurance.
Superior Court in Lilley heard John C. Pihl versus Reverend John V. Soderman. Pihl and witnesses testified but the defense had many witnesses to call. The jury was excused, and the case went over to a new term in Lowell.
A Lowell man and several locals fought on Essex street last night. The dispute escalated to blows with three assailants pursuing the Lowell man until police intervention caused their escape. All involved were intoxicated.
