Patrick O Loughlin aged 31 formerly of Lowell died at his Lawrence home yesterday and will be buried in Lowell. Mrs Laura Grover aged 81 died in East Brookfield Sunday and leaves daughter Miss M E Grover and granddaughter Mrs A Crompton of Sturbridge. Grover’s body was brought to Lowell for burial Tuesday.
The funeral service for Mrs. Elizabeth Searle was held Tuesday afternoon at her Dutton street residence. Rev. Dr. Chambre led the rites and burial followed in Edson cemetery, under the direction of C. M. Young.
Chicago jurors in the Luetgert murder trial report they remain divided eight to four on hanging versus acquittal. After a morning session, the bailiff notes no change from yesterday as Judge Tuthill recalls the panel to court. Juror Hartley inquires about partial verdicts, but the judge calls it improper and sends them back.
Springfield report says Raymond Allen, 12, found dynamite in a quarry and carried it to school. An explosion shattered his right hand and groin wound. several students injured as panic spread through the classroom.
Dan Stuart writes from Carson Nevada that Fitzsimmons and Corbett will have a rematch in Carson in July next year. He predicts the long anticipated bout will attract large crowds and heightened interest in boxing circles.
Councilman Dana questioned the fate of tickets collected at the gate and Mountain Rock grove pavillion during the junket. Lieut Ken said tickets were handed to the city messenger, who claimed no tickets were returned or that some were mislaid.
Oct 20 Patrick McGuirk and Terrence Lennon were sentenced to four months in the workhouse for drunkenness. Henry Quinn fined $6 for the same offense. John J Scullin and Mary A Dalton held on $500 bond for trial Oct 26 for adultery. Arthur Hebert fined $10 for cruelty to a horse. Speros Caramponetes, who ran down a woman on a bicycle, charged with assault and battery and held for trial Oct 27.
The Lowell State Normal School now has 109 students with two inmates. Of the total, 44 come from listed Massachusetts towns including Tewksbury Chelmsford and Lowell surrounding areas, and from New Hampshire towns Wolfboro Concord and Nashua.

James McCaffrey aged 52 dies at St Johns hospital on October 19. Survived by widow and two sons James and Peter McCaffrey of the city.
The Erie Telegraph and Telephone company reports a net gain of 998 subscribers for the quarter ending September 30 bringing total connections to 23,483 on that date. J A Nesmith of Conway New Hampshire shot three deer with his first three shots proving himself a dead shot. Merrimack Valley Congregational club meeting slated for next Monday evening will be held off Highland Congregational church with local interest topics and an organ recital during social hour.
A Massachusetts amateur bowling league meeting at the Parker House Boston acted on rules and business. Clubs represented include B A A Melrose A C Arlington B C Kern wood Les Miserables 99th Artillery Medford Newtowne Philedian Jeffries Winter and Highland of Melrose Read ing Highland of West Roxbury Hancock of Worcester. President Walter Stimpson presided secretary A J Lonergan.

The City Clerk will introduce an order at the next Common Council meeting creating a three member special committee. The panel will investigate alleged illegal balloting by a council member during a ballot for a lands and buildings superintendent on Oct 19, 1897. It may summon witnesses and hire a stenographer up to 25 dollars, charged to incidentals. The committee must report after final passage of the order.

The Lowell Common Council faced a noisy meeting over a proposed millage to cover a hundred dollar entertainment bill for Lawrence city officials. Friction erupted as members accused mismanagement and delayed votes while Fagan was caught trying to cast two ballots. Council members urged restraint and approved a resolution disallowing city funds for similar entertainments.
Fay Bros. & Hosford sue John H Harrington for 15000 damages, claiming articles in the Sun on Sept 14, 17, 18 and Oct 10 1895 were published with malice to injure their theatre business and reputation. Facts cover plaintiffs advertising, Harringtons threats to solicit ads, and testimony on theatre operations and Irish patronage. The case resumes after opening statements and witness testimonies.
